OUR JOURNEY

Early Community efforts

Inspired by his lifelong service, the family continued to carry forward his vision through grassroots initiatives aimed at empowering women and improving community welfare. Recognizing that strong families and communities begin with empowered individuals, they focused particularly on supporting women by providing opportunities for education, skill development, and leadership. Through small training programs, community gatherings, and support networks, women were encouraged to build confidence, develop practical skills, and actively participate in decisions that affect their families and neighborhoods.

In addition to women’s empowerment, the family worked closely with local communities to address everyday challenges such as access to education, basic health awareness, and social support for vulnerable families. These initiatives were often simple but meaningful—organizing community meetings, helping children access learning resources, supporting families in need, and encouraging cooperation among neighbors.

Over time, these consistent grassroots efforts helped strengthen community bonds and created an environment where people could support one another and work together for positive change. By continuing his legacy of compassion and service, the family ensured that his values of care, dignity, and community upliftment remained alive and active in the lives of many people.

Official Establishment

On 14th November 2025, marking his 5th Memorial Anniversary, the Hananiah Foundation was formally launched to honor his legacy of service and compassion. The foundation was established to continue his vision of supporting communities through initiatives focused on education, women’s empowerment, and social welfare.

Under the leadership of John Milton Lima and the guidance of Mrs. Christo Kumari Pani, the organization was structured to carry forward these efforts in a more organized and impactful way. To ensure transparency and accountability, the foundation was registered as a Section 8 Company, a legal structure in India meant for nonprofit organizations working for charitable purposes.

The foundation also obtained 12A and 80G registrations, which allow the organization to operate with tax exemptions and enable donors to receive tax benefits on their contributions. These provisions strengthen trust, encourage donor participation, and support the foundation’s commitment to transparent and responsible operations.

Continuing the Legacy

Today, the Hananiah Foundation continues to carry forward this legacy by promoting education, skill development, health awareness, and sustainable community development, particularly in tribal regions. Through various grassroots initiatives, the foundation works closely with local communities to create opportunities that improve livelihoods and strengthen social well-being.

One of its key milestones is the establishment of the Koraput Food Centre in Dimbaguda village, a unique initiative operated entirely by tribal women. This center not only provides a source of income but also promotes dignity, confidence, and self-reliance among the women involved, empowering them to become active contributors to their families and communities.

Guided by the values of service and compassion that inspired its founding, the Hananiah Foundation continues to expand its efforts to reach more people in need. The torch he lit remains a guiding light for the organization’s mission—to empower communities, create opportunities, and transform lives for a better and more hopeful future.
